The Material World is all that is connected to our earthly existence money, property, family, relationships, and pleasures derived from earthly possessions. On the other hand, the Spiritual World is about the pursuit of spirituality through practices like Yoga, Meditation, and exercises that ultimately lead to Mukti and the realization of Paramporul. In this article, our Guru, Bramma Sri Mahavishnu, shares his thoughts on the Material World vs the Spiritual World.
Key Points to Remember:
- In the Material World, we work to appear; in the Spiritual World, we work to disappear.
- The process of learning applies to the Material World; the process of unlearning applies to the Spiritual World.
- Transitioning from the Material World to the Spiritual World can be confusing.
- Those pursuing Spiritual knowledge may be called mad or brainless by others, but they must not back down.
- Survival in the Material World requires intelligence and smartness.
- Knowledge in the Spiritual World is considered a sin.

Differences Between the Material World and the Spiritual World
This article is a transcript from a YouTube video by Bramma Sri Mahavishnu, the founder of the Paramporul Foundation.
Material World: What We Live Now
The Material World vs Spiritual World comparison highlights that our current existence revolves around chasing after money, property, family, children, relationships, and earthly pleasures. The Material World is where we establish ourselves through success and gain recognition in society.
In contrast, the Spiritual World requires a completely different approach. While material success is important for establishing ourselves in society and with our family, attaining peace of mind in the Spiritual World means gradually letting go of the things we have earned.
Work to Appear vs. Work to Disappear
In the Material World, we work to make our presence known, while in the Spiritual World, the goal is to disappear, shedding attachments to material gains. As you pursue spirituality, it may become increasingly difficult to balance both worlds. The more you engage in spirituality, the more detached you become from material things. This can lead others to label you as foolish or mad. However, if you turn back, all your efforts will be in vain. Some individuals have successfully excelled in both the Material and Spiritual Worlds.
Learning in the Material World vs. Unlearning in the Spiritual World
In the Material World, the focus is on learning gaining knowledge and skills that help us succeed. However, in the Spiritual World, the focus shifts to unlearning and letting go of attachments and false beliefs, eventually leading to a state of “Shoonya Nilai.”
Conclusion: Embracing the Spiritual Journey
The article clearly highlights the differences between the Material and Spiritual Worlds. As one embarks on the Spiritual journey, one may begin to forget the material aspects of life. This process of unlearning helps one attain spiritual peace and ultimately reach a higher state of being. Guruve Sharanam!
