Here in this article, our brother Bramma Sri Mahavishnu will share his wonderful thoughts on What is Sanyasam and how different it is from people’s thinking.
What is Sanyasam:
There is a common rumor that pursuing Spiritual Knowledge or going into Sanyasam means leaving out everything from the Family to the Assets and just go away. That is totally wrong. The mere understanding of Sanyasam itself is totally wrong. Spirituality and Sanyasam are not something that is outside of us. It is all in our Minds. Our mind is our biggest asset, and it is the most powerful tool. Attaining Spiritual Knowledge or attaining Sanyasam is all about our mind and it is not about leaving the material things. In fact, it is nowhere related to material things at all.
Material Attachments of the person who is pursuing Sanyasam and Spirituality will be like a water drop on a Lotus Leaf. It will be there but it won’t get attached!
There are some people who are extremely talented, they can pursue Sanyasam and Spirituality from their place itself. I don’t say that people don’t leave their home, family, assets while pursuing Sanyasam. A few people do that but it is to avoid getting in stuck with the material things even when they don’t wish to. They may get thoughts about material things but it will be like a Water drop on the Leaf of a Lotus. It will be there but it will not have any personal attachment. Hence It is not required that one should leave everything if he wants to pursue Sanyasam. It is all about being in an awareness state and it can be done by controlling our minds. It is not required that one should step out of home for that. It is a total misconception. Guruve Sharanam!
